Biography of Dot Bunn

Dot Bunn is a full time studio painter with
over 30 years experience. A life long resident
of Bucks County, her award winning work
has been exhibited at juried shows throughout
Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
She was the recipient of the Patrons Award
for
Best Painting at the Phillips’ Mill 75th
Annual Juried Art Exhibition. Dot was
honored to
have four of her figurative paintings selected
by Philadelphia/Tri State Artists Equity
Association to hang in their Select Exhibition
at the Sykes Gallery in Millersville, PA.
This special curated exhibition presented a
more in depth look at an artist’s work that is
not usually possible in a juried show. Her
paintings have won over fifteen awards in the
last two years.
Her education includes oil painting,
watercolor and graphic design. She studied oil
painting with Paul F. Keene as well as other
distinguished instructors and has taken
classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine
Art. Dot teaches traditional oil painting and
color mixing from her studio in Bucks
County and at the Art Colony in Stockton,
NJ, as
well as lecturing at Delaware Valley College
to adult education classes on her process of
creating art.
“Gradually I have evolved a method of studio
painting that interprets a clearer sense of
atmospheric light. My method involves
painting layers of rich transparent glazes
combined with vivid opaque painting, using
the finest pigments for maximum color. My
goal is to capture the wonders of air and light,
as they change shape and color in a
landscape. Each painting captures a distinct
time of day or season. My work is straight
forward and without gimmick. I paint what I
feel with the hope that it will connect with
others on a personal level.”
